SANTO DOMINGO.- The tycoon Jacinto Peynado Alvarez yesterday criticized Administrative minister Luis Manuel Bonetti, rebuking what he says is the officials «thoughtless with his family, and of «snatching several tenders,» as quoted by the newspaper Diario Libre.
In that regard the son of the late ex vice president Jacinto Peynado refuted Bonettis defense of the transparency of the bidding to buy 300 units for the governments bus service (OMSA).
«I cant stand it any more, this is thoughtlessness with our family, our honor, for my father who rests peace. Ill send a missive to president Leonel Fernandez so that he receives my mother and I, to ask him if we have done something to them and if we deserve that treatment,» Peynado said.
He said the Administrative Ministry isnt authorized to determine the OMSA biddings legality, since this corresponds to the Hacienda Ministrys Contracting and Bidding Department.
He said two months ago his company won a bidding for 60 pickup trucks for the National Police, which he said was «snatched» despite a cost of 30 percent less and that a similar situation occurred with a bidding for Agriculture Ministry equipment.
The Bonetti and Peynado families are believed to be among the countrys wealthiest.
